Monmouth County was established in 1675. The county seat is Freehold Borough and as of 2010, Monmouth County is the fifth most populated county in the state. According to the 2010 census, the county has a total area of 665.32 square, of which 70.46% is land and 29.54% is water. Monmouth County is in the top 2% of counties in the United States by wealth and is a mecca for boating and fishing.
