Hunterdon County was established in 1714. The county seat is Flemington. According to the 2010 census, the county has a total area of 437.44 square, of which 97.80% is land and 2.20% is water.
The County is known for its hunting of white tailed deer and has abundant stocking of its river systems with rainbow, brown, and brook trout. Hunterdon County has numerous important roads including Routes 28, 30, 164, 165 & 166 which intersect into Interstate 195 and Interstate 295 to the Capital area of Trenton and other points in Mercer County. Among the many highlights to visit in the County are the Flemington Outlet Mall, Fishing/ Boating at the Man-Made Round Valley Reservoir. The famous Woolverton Inn (Stockton), Annual Balloon Festival (Readington), and Old York Cellars Winery (Ringoes).
